Information Technology is an essential aspect when maximizing the competitive advantage of any company as well as ensuring an effective global expansion. The contemporary world is characterized by ever-changing trends in the communication and technological industries. This requires all companies to keep up and align with the changes and advancements for survival and competitive advantage. The Morgan Stanley Dean Witter company in the case study has developed IT infrastructures and systems that use telecommunication networks, computing, and applications that capture information throughout and keep the information updated, accurate, readily available, and user-friendly (BCS, 2019). Moreover, the company is developing the Straight Through Process to address the challenges present in its global operations. This process is essential and applicable to Verizon Company’s management of not only its IT infrastructure but also its organizational structure.

The Straight Through Process will be applicable in the company, especially since the company is in the communication industry. The process will be essential in the company as it can speed up the transactions by minimizing the processing time. Being a global company, communication between and among departments can be challenging, thus resulting in miscommunication and wrong transactions. The Straight Through Processing will streamline communication in all departments and divisions and share information across multiple points. This will maximize the accuracy, availability, and update of data (Reuters, 2019). This process will be a step towards embracing 5G technology, where communication is stabilized, and one can connect many devices at once. For instance, when having conferences with divisional executives, teleconferencing through the fifth-generation mobile wireless connection can be conducted easily and effectively.

The Straight Through Process in support with the 5G technology will streamline communication through departments and divisions with ease. This will ensure a fast-moving environment and operations, thus maximizing a competitive advantage globally and domestically.
