Find a news story, from a reputable source, that discusses an issue of political importance to Black Americans.

• Include a brief summary that notes:

1. WHO is involved in the story?

2. WHAT did he, she, or they do?

3. WHERE did these events occur? WHERE is the impact felt?

4. WHEN was the article written and WHEN did the events occur?

5. HOW is this politically relevant?

6. HOW does this subject influence the economics of African Americans?

• Summaries must be in either MLA or APA format

• The news source for the summary must be properly cited in MLA or APA format

• The instructor should be able to access the source article via the citation, therefore, there is no need for students to bring a hardcopy to class

• Summaries should be uploaded to Blackboard by 11:59 PM on the Monday before they are due

• All students must turn in their articles on Tuesday

• At least, a few, students will be randomly selected to present their articles on Tuesday.

• Any student who does not turn in his or her article at the beginning of class can turn that week’s article on Thursday.

• Those assignments are late and, consequently, cannot earn full credit.

• Students turning in the assignment late (on Thursday) may still be selected to share their work.
