Essay Submission
The assignment for this particular lesson needs to be completed on an individual basis. In this assignment, you will conduct some research on your own to identify a U.S. state or local government entity that has adopted performance measures, and write a brief essay that describes this effort. Your essay should be approximately 700–800 words in length and needs to include the following:
• references to the sources that describes the effort that you elected to write about.
• a description of the effort, including
o the motivating factors behind why this effort was implemented,
o how far the government has come in its implementation efforts,
o whether the effort has been deemed a success or a failure, and
o what the government is doing in terms of next steps.
• a reflection upon whether the “scope of use” goes beyond a mere focus on efficiency. If the answer is yes, then please describe the scope of use.
Be sure to include citations for all direct quotes and paraphrases.
